Last week I was in Cornwall and I have to tell you about an amazing tea related find – Margaret’s Rustic tea room. This is in fact a caravan in a garden by the beach in Northcott Mouth, Bude. The picture gives you an idea of the rustic feel, but the setting is so good you have to go there yourself and have a proper Cornish cream tea and enjoy the scenery. On ordering the cream teas Margaret told me that there would be a short wait whilst somebody fetched her more cream. It was so peaceful in the garden, even on a bank holiday weekend, this was no hardship. When the scones later arrived heavily laden with cream I could see how Margaret could easily run out, so generous were the helpings. At a cost of £3.50, taking into account the setting, Margaret’s hospitality and yummy scones this has rocketed to the top of my best Cornish cream teas list. The next day with thoughts of the scone on my mind I got on my bike and cycled some ridiculously hilly costal roads with my husband. Perfect.
